In the present paper I wish to once again touch upon the issue of authenticity of colophons in
Tibetan canonical (and if time permits also para-canonical) collections. I shall do so by
focusing on a couple of examples, thereby investigating both their author/authorship and
translator/translation colophons, with particular attention to the latter. This shall be done by
comparing the colophons of different versions of the same work and occasionally also by
comparing the actual text of the various versions. In addition, since traditional catalogues
(dkar chag) are an important source for the history of the transmission of the works they
record, the bibliographical information provided there would be contrasted with that found
in the respective colophons. Moreover, whenever possible, textual matches with other works
would likewise be looked into in order to verify claims concerning the translation of the
work in question.
