In the De bzhing gshegs pa’i sku gzugs kyi tshad kyi rim pa’i don gsal bar byed pa’i gzhung lugs yid bzhin gyi nor bu (Zhol 1944; Blo bzang phun tshogs 1993; Luo 2005; Karma bde legs 2010), which is attributed to sMan thang pa sMan bla don grub (15th cent.), verses 171 to 173a in the 5th chapter (Jñānapaṭala) of the Laghukālacakratantra (LKCT) were quoted to clarify the divergence between dus ’khor lugs and sdom ’byung lugs. In the bDe bar gshegs pa’i sku gzugs kyi tshad kyi rab tu byed pa yid bzhin nor bu (Gangtok, 1983), which is also attributed to sMan bla don grub, however, neither these verses are cited, nor the divergence between dus ’khor lugs and sdom ’byung lugs is specifically discussed. Besides, LKCT 5.172a as quoted in the De bzhin gshegs pa’i sku gzugs kyi cha tshad yid bzhin gyi nor bu does not correspond to the published Sanskrit editions and it is also different from the Tibetan translation transmitted in most of the Kanjur editions. The main concern here is to investigate these textual divergences and discuss two questions: Did sMan bla don grub quote these verses in his works? And if he did, from where did he quote LKCT 5.172a?
