Archival exploration and textual digitisation continue to inform and shape our understanding of the past and legacies for the future. This talk will present the archival and digitisation activities carried out in the last few years in the temples of Bhutan, which represent a literary treasure trove of Himalayan Buddhist civilization that is still largely uncharted.
Beside outlining the visions and objectives, the methodologies and procedures, problems and prospects of the digitisation programme, the talk will also show what impact the programme can have on our understanding of the Himalayan Buddhist literary landscape and the overall accessibility to and use of the materials. The talk is a report of the ongoing programme of digitisation and the archival collections.
