During the conference “Manuscript and Xylograph Traditions in the Tibetan Cultural Sphere” (May 15–18, 2013, University of Hamburg), the Khyentse Center for Tibetan Buddhist Textual Scholarhsip (KC-TBTS) announced to launch a database for terms related to Tibetan Textual Scholarship—including both text and book cultures—as it has been practiced throughout the Tibetan cultural sphere. Following the announcement, a database named “gSung-rten: A Glossary of Technical Terms of Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhist Textual and Book Cultures” has been developed and the first entries have been entered. The present workshop is conceived of as a two-day brainstorming meeting aiming at the further development of the database, which will address technical and conceptual issues.
